The Hester V. King Freedom Fund Gala supports our major programs for the Branch: Economic Sustainability, Education, Health, Public Safety and Criminal Justice, Voting Rights and Political Representation. Additionally, the Gala helps to support our community outreach events and youth initiatives and programs. This year, the Branch took students in the Youth and College division to the 2018 NAACP Image Awards in Los Angeles, California. This year’s theme: “Steadfast and Immovable,” reflects the dedication of the Branch to remain true to our mission to educate, enlighten and preserve the rights of all people while refusing to be shaken or wavier amidst the changes happening in the world around us. Our keynote speaker for the Gala will be NAACP lifetime member, social activist, man-of-faith, and host of the Emmy-nominated “Judge Mathis Show,” The Honorable Judge Greg Mathis.
The NAACP ACT-SO competition is a youth program designed by the NAACP to recruit and encourage high academic and cultural achievement among African American high school students. The program combined with the NAACP convention this year in Baltimore and gives students the opportunity to showcase their talents. For more information, CLICK HERE.
